The Minoan palace of Phaistos is as interesting as Knossos, but is less complex. The royal apartments, lustral basins and workshops surround the central courtyard. The ruins of houses were found on the slopes and sides of the hill. The Phaistos Disc, (17th century BC), which is in The Archaeological Museum of Heraklion, remains one of the great unsolved mysteries as we do not know why it was made, or what is written on it!
