The small pine-covered island of Poros is close to Athens and is a popular destination for yachts sailing in the Saronic Gulf. Some of the best known sites of the island are the famous clock tower that is visible from everywhere in the town of the city, the neoclassical houses along the beachfront and the town’s neighbourhoods with their narrow streets and bougainvillea-covered houses. It is worth visiting the archaeological museum and the temple of Poseidon (6th century BC). The famous lemon groves are very close to Poros.
